Description
Buckden was featured recently in ITV’s “The Dales” series. We do hope you didn't miss the opportunity to view the stunning scenery surrounding our village. 2014 saw the Tour de France pass through the village.
Buckden, Upper Wharfedale, is at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, surrounded by National Trust land; 10 miles from Grassington (the “capital of Upper Wharfedale”) and less than 20 miles from Skipton (“Gateway to the Dales”). Dalegarth cottages are set in a former Georgian walled kitchen garden and provide an excellent centre from which to explore the surrounding Dales.
The cottages overlook meadows leading down to the River Wharfe, along which winds the Dales Way - a long distance footpath. The village itself lies at the foot of Buckden Pike (2300 ft.) which is approached via a Roman Road. There are walks to suit all abilities – whether ambling along the river or striding the hills - right from the cottage doorstep and into the glorious scenery of the Dales, almost invariably ending at a country pub!
This idyllic location, offering long distance views across and along the River Wharfe, provides high quality accommodation (VisitBritain 4* Gold Award), comprising:

TWIN BEDROOM: (with access to patio and rear garden)

Sometimes given the nickname of “God’s Own County” thanks to its lush green countryside and wild expanses of moor land, Yorkshire is the largest county in England. It is home to over 800 attractions, from breweries to museums, castles to zoos, and World Heritage Sites to breathtaking rides. There are many popular seaside resorts along its coastline, including Whitby, Bridlington and Scarborough, as well as quieter villages and working harbours nestled among the rugged cliffs. The North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and part of the Peak District National Park offer wonderful opportunities for walkers, cyclists and climbers, as well as nature reserves for bird spotters and naturalists. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway carries more passengers than any other heritage railway in the UK and the National Railway Museum is to be found in the county capital city, York.
